Your assignment is to study his complete file (the book Ender's Game) and determine whether he has shown enough leadership qualities to be the right commander for the International Fleet's defense of Earth.
After collecting your evidence (in teams), each psychologist must write a formal report.
Choose at least five of the qualities and characteristics of good leaders, and back those choices with ample specific examples for support. Your aim is to persuade the International Fleet panel of the validity of your evidence and; therefore, the validity of your recommendation.
If you believe that Ender Wiggin would be a good Battle Commander, take that position in your report, and choose at least five of Ender's strengths to present to the panel along with strong evidence of these qualities.
If you believe that Ender Wiggin would not be suitable, take that position in your report, and choose at least five of Ender's weaknesses to present. Be sure that you show clear evidence as to why he would not be acceptable as Battle Commander.
You must convince the panel of your opinion with FACTS. You will be informed as to the specific day and time you are to appear before the members of the International Fleet's selection panel to present your findings. This appearance will be videotaped for later consideration by the Commander-in-Chief.
You must bring the following items to this meeting:
your written copy of the FORMAL REPORT including all your observations and examples as well as your professional interpretation of those observations,
Three labeled VISUALS of Ender showing his strongest (or weakest) observable behaviors in action, and
your summary RECOMMENDATION SHEET (a one paragraph document summarizing your decision and which strengths/weaknesses you used to base your judgement upon).
You are expected to explain your report as clearly as possible using your visuals in your presentation to support your statements. You will not have time to read your report to the panel; be sure that you can make your points clearly from your summary and visuals alone. If time allows (you have been alotted no less than 3 and no more than 6 minutes) you will solicit questions from the panel to clarify any information necessary. At the end of your presentation please submit your materials along with your recommendation sheet to the panel.
